Mission Statement The Capital Pride Alliance, through its diverse programming and stewardship of GLBT organizations and events, specifically year-round Pride celebrations in Washington, DC, will serve to educate, motivate, support, and celebrate our diverse communities in order to grow and protect our legacy for future generations.
Principles and Values The Capital Pride Alliance, through our Capital Pride programming and outreach will operate by a set of principles and values in order to fulfill our mission: Value Diversity - by accepting and respecting differences and working to understand the diverse cultural complexities that influence identity, assumptions, behaviors, expectations, and beliefs; Inclusivity - through providing free membership, volunteer opportunities with decision-making roles, community partner advisory roles and board seat, and corporate sponsor/vendor opportunities year-round; Honor - those citizens who fought to protect and recognize our basic human rights as global citizens, and learn from their challenges and success; Transparency - through established and open business/financial practices, regular public reporting to community organizations, publications, and licensing agencies, and direct access to board officers, executive director, and staff; Protect - our organization, our community, our members, and our allies by strengthening our human capital, our financial assets, and our business practices and evolve as the needs of our communities change; Accountability - to our community, our partners, our Directors, our volunteers, our staff, our sponsors, vendors, and related agencies through transparency, honesty, consistent-timely reporting, professional annual auditing and evaluation, and published communications both online and during meetings; and Integrity - in everything we do. Recognize that our programs, our events, our actions, our statements, affect not only each other’s lives but that of a larger global family of GLBT citizens and our allies. |
