2009 Capital Pride Committee Descriptions Communications, Marketing and Branding – Responsible for creating an overall brand for Capital Pride, including crafting the messages and image of Capital Pride. The committee plans and implements all print and electronic communications products. It also serves as the point of contact between Capital Pride and local and national media outlets.(Communications and Outreach) Community Partners Outreach – Services the Community Partners Advisory Council to incorporate feedback and assistance from Partners as well as to recruit, retain and develop relationships with new Community Partners. (Communications and Outreach) Corporate Sponsorships – Cultivates all relationships and interactions with corporate sponsors. Determines levels of sponsorship packages and pairings of potential sponsors with specific Pride events. Works to identify, contact, and cultivate a cohort of sponsors for the long-term future of Capital Pride. (Fundraising and Revenue) Dances and Parties – Coordinates relationships with bars, clubs, and other venues to plan and oversee dances, parties, and other celebrations that support Capital Pride. (Fundraising and Revenue) Donations and Fees – Responsible for securing individual donations for Capital Pride throughout the year and for establishing and coordinating all Pride-related event fees. Educational and Cultural Events – Plans year-long educational and cultural programming based on community needs and interests. Responsible for integrating the Capital Pride theme into events, celebrations, and pageants. (Programs and Operations) Electronic Communications – Plans, implements, and assesses all online communications of Capital Pride, including the website, newsletters, and other electronic tools that promote Capital Pride and its events. (Communications and Outreach) Festival – Coordinates all aspects of the annual street fair, including main stage entertainment, festival layout, vendors, and activities of the day. (Programs and Operations) Inter-Pride Collaboration – Enhances cooperation and collaboration between and among Capital Pride and other pride-related entities in the area (DC Black Pride, Latino Pride, Leather Pride, Pet Pride, Trans Pride, and Youth Pride) as well as between Capital Pride and other regional, national, and international Pride efforts. (Programs and Operations) Logistics, Safety and Security – Oversees all aspects of legal permits and fees for the operation of Capital Pride, coordinates security at all events, and plans and implements a general safety plan for all Capital Pride activities. (Programs and Operations) Media and Public Relations – Serves as the point of contact between Capital Pride and all local and national media sources. Maintains contact with media outlets throughout the year, and ensures that Capital Prides relations with the general public are clearly and accurately communicated. (Communications and Outreach) Parade – Oversees all aspects of the annual parade, including recruiting and training contingents, selecting parade routes, and determining day-of logistics. (Programs and Operations) Volunteer and Member Recruitment – Recruits, trains, and assesses all members and volunteers of Capital Pride. Responsible for identifying individuals for the planning committee during the year, and implementing a staffing plan at all Capital Pride events. (Programs and Operations) |
