Biographies
Officers:
Michael Lutz (President of the Board) is the manager of Business Solutions at XA Systems, LLC. He has lived in metropolitan area for almost ten years, and has been active with Capital Pride since 2001. Michael has been involved in the community through groups such as the Human Rights Campaign, Burgundy Crescent Volunteers, and AIDS Walk Washington; he has been a member of the Capital Pride Planning Committee since 2006. Michael currently co-chairs the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of Capital Pride.
Anne Scott (Vice-President) works in the business and finance department at The National Trust for Historic Preservation and serves at the Young Alumnae Coordinator on the Board of the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Association of the Greater Washington area. Since moving to the area in 2004, Anne has been active in the community via Women in the Twenties, and through volunteer efforts through both the National Organization for Woman and Burgundy Crescent, first participating in Capital Pride in 2005. She has been a member of the Capital Pride Planning Committee since early 2007.
Vincent E. Slatt (Secretary) is a reference librarian at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Living in the metropolitan area for five years, he first got active in the community via the National AIDS Marathon Training Program, raising several thousand dollars for the Whitman-Walker Clinic while running marathons. Via Burgundy Crescent Volunteers, he has supported several GLBT-friendly organizations, including Capital Pride. He serves as the Secretary of the Youth Pride Alliance and is active with the Rainbow History Project. He has volunteered at Pride festivities for several years, and joined the Capital Pride Planning Committee in the fall of 2006. Vincent currently serves as the co-chair of the Volunteer Outreach Committee of Capital Pride.
Larry Stansbury (Treasurer) is retired from most things accept being an activist, a role he has held in the metropolitan area GLBT community since the 1960s. He retired from Brother Help Thyself in 2006 after 25 years of community service and distribution of millions of donated dollars to create, sponsor and form organizations which foster the greater GLBT community. Larry remains active in the Spartan Motorcycle Club and Capital Pride, which he has been active with since the earliest pride celebrations were held in the 1970s. Most recently he has served on the Planning Committee in the role of safety and security chair for all events and operations.
At-Large Members:
Bernard J. Delia is currently a senior attorney with the federal government. He has lived in the Washington, DC area for 25 years and has been a member of Dignity/Washington for 20 years. He was a member of the Dignity/Washington Board of Directors from 1988 to 1990 and served as President of the organization from 1990 to 1993. In 1993 he worked in the White House in the Office of Presidential Personnel and from 1993 to 1997 he worked at the Justice Department as a Senior Counsel, first in the Office of Policy Development and then in the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. From 1997 to January 2001 he was an Associate Deputy Attorney General and White House Liaison. He joined Capital Pride as a member of the Planning Committee in February 2007 as a representative of Dignity/Washington, one of the Community Partners. He was a member of the Heroes subcommittee and he co-chaired the Bachelor Auction.
Adrianne L. Jones, a resident of Baltimore, MD, is an accomplished sales and marketing professional with diverse experience in business development, public relations, brand management, and territory management. Adrianne has been a tireless LGBTQ advocate and volunteer in our Community. In 2007, as a Corporate Sponsor representative to Capital Pride, Adrianne joined the Capital Pride Planning Committee. She has since then advocated other corporations to lend their support to Capital Pride. In 2008 Adrianne is Chair of the Capital Pride Sponsorship committee. Through her leadership, she hopes to help companies create cultural change, gain exposure and enhance credibility in the LGBTQ community and beyond through their participation in Capital Pride programs and events. Adrianne served as the chair of the Sponsorship and Corporate Outreach Committee of Capital Pride 2008.
Rees Kirkorian has taken a leave of absense from the Board of Directors to serve as Chair of the Festival Committee..
Brandee Matthies is a costume designer working for the Studio Theatre and has been active in various regional theater groups since moving to Washington, DC from Philadelphia in 1990. He became active with community organizations since attending his first Pride in 1984. He has volunteered locally for countless organizations, including Food & Friends, DC Black Pride, and Us Helping Us. Brandee has organized and promoted dance parties and other community events since attending his first Pride in 1984. He joined the Capital Pride Planning Committee in the fall of 2006 and secured financial and in-kind sponsorships by the Studio Theater for events held in their space.
William Miles, Ed.D. is the Director of Programs at the National Education Association Foundation. A DC resident since 1975, he has served as a consultant to local nonprofit organizations in the areas of nonprofit governance and strategic planning and evaluation. His work within the GLBT community has included the Whitman-Walker Clinic’s Hotline and AIDS Walk, the Cherry Fund and MAL Weekend. He has volunteered for Capital Pride since 1998, serving on the Planning Committee since 2006. Most recently he chaired the bachelor and bachelorette auctions, raising over $25,000 in 2006 and 2007.
Robert Turner II is the President and founder of the Turner Group, a DC-based government relations firm. In his thirteen years living in the District, Robert has worked as a Hill staffer in both the Senate and the House of Representatives and has worked for public interest lobbying and public relations firms. In his role as Director of Government Relations at The MWW Group, he helped secure over $500,000 in federal funding for the Whitman-Walker Clinic in 2005. His community participation includes a role as Assistant Director for AIDS Walk Austin, organized by AIDS Services of Austin, Texas in 1993. Robert has participated in Capital Pride activities for several years, joining the Planning Committee in 2007. Robert served as the chair for the Town Hall Committee of Capital Pride 2008..
